We supplied full technical production services across multiple areas of the venue, placing innovation at the core of the visitor experience.
Guests arriving at Protein Studio passed through a light tunnel on their way into the main auditorium. Following a brief from Wasserman, we designed and built a blacked out passageway with 160 horizontally scrolling Astera LED light tubes on the walls and ceiling, which gave the illusion of speed.
The tunnel was constructed from BeMatrix frames, with F50 branded artwork supplied by Insert Productions covering the outside, and a black skin on the walls and ceiling inside. Whooshing sounds, played through Sonos speakers inside the tunnel further added to the sense of high velocity, with guests pausing to take pictures and videos amidst the psychedelic effect.
The main stage was designed to be as aesthetically appealing as it was practical—hosting not just the F50 launch, but also a live stream of the Champions League final during the evening, when we routed UEFA’s broadcast feed onto a 5x3M high definition LED wall. Two 1.5x3M IMAG screens either side of the main screen, utilised the content from a Black Magic 4K camera at the back of the auditorium and a remote controlled PTZ camera on the front truss to provide close ups of the action on stage.
Astera LED tubes were artistically placed in the gaps between the main screen and IMAG screens, imitating the illusion of speed and motion. An Insert Productions vision mixer used Barco video switchers and media servers to control playback, with vMix processing the incoming signals from UEFA. Running backup feeds and servers virtually eliminated the risk of interruption.
Our PA system included Sennheiser wireless microphones for the presenter and guests on stage, an Allen & Heath SQ5 mixer and d&b speakers. The auditorium was lit in red and blue, to match the colours of the F50 boot. Lights from Robe, SGM and Martin Professional were controlled from an Avolites Quartz lighting console by an Insert Productions lighting operator.
We added further innovation to the F50 launch by integrating an actuator system into an on stage plinth used to reveal the F50. With the boot rising into view and being presented to the public upon activation by the presenter.
Guests of the F50 launch were invited to play football the following day at the Emirates Stadium wearing the new boots. Ahead of their kickabout at the home of Arsenal football club, they needed to be kitted out in new F50s!
Wasserman designed a boot fitting room where guests could try on and collect their boots. We provided an LED ticker screen, and uplighters to set the mood. Based on a brief from Wasserman, we designed and built three boot reveal pods which teased future colourways of the F50 boot. Guests lifted the lid of what appeared to be a regular Peli Case to discover the boot nestled in laser-cut foam, illuminated with LED strip lights with smoke from a tiny fogger adding to the magic of the moment.
A breakout room allowed users to explore the F50 range further and enjoy hands-on experiences with the boot. We provided an Adidas F50 themed DJ pod, with Pioneer CDJ-3000 decks and a DJM-A9 mixer which fed into our d&b PA system. An overhead lighting rig continued the aesthetic of the launch and kept guests in the mood as they looked forward to the culmination of the club football season: the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley.
Insert Productions are proud to have supported Wasserman with all their technical production needs for the Adidas F50 launch. In addition to these specific solutions, we provided staging, power distribution and wireless event networks throughout the venue. We supplied a show communication system which enabled smooth communication between show technicians and event managers.
Whatever technical requirements were needed by Wasserman and Adidas, we took care of them. Our core objective is to make life easier for our clients—whether that’s providing products or services, we’ll do as much as you need us to, to guarantee a successful event.
