The Challenge

Broadwick Studio brought us onboard as a specialist technology supplier and gamification expert—utilising our knowledge of creating custom game experiences. We were also tasked with a wide range of technical production services, ensuring the event ran smoothly.

Our Solutions

We worked closely with Broadwick Studio, aligning our solutions and services to satisfy their specific requirements and ensure adidas customers enjoyed an experience they’d be talking about for a long time.

The Lion’s Den

At the centre of the Road to London was the Lion’s Den—a cauldron-like room dominated by a caged football pitch which hosted 90s 2v2 men’s and women’s football tournaments.

Insert Productions created a gameplay registration and leaderboard app. adidas brand ambassadors invited guests to register their team on an iPad device, which fed the information back into our server. A game timer, live scores, goal animations and the tournament’s league table were relayed to a 3x2M LED wall from our server. Audio effects such as countdown timer, goal celebrations and the final whistle were triggered by the app and played back through the PA system.

Celebrities PK Humble and Specs Gonzalez mc’d the event, introducing the teams and providing live commentary using radio microphones from Insert Productions.

adidas Extra Time

A theatre-style breakout room offered respite from the fiery atmosphere of the Lion’s Den, hosting panel discussions, Q&A sessions and podcast recording by some of the brightest streaming talent.

We provided a 5x3M high definition LED screen, PA system including handheld microphones and staging for the adidas Extra Time room. Insert Productions crew mixed the audio, controlled the video content and operated the lights during a show which was enjoyed by hundreds of adidas customers.

DJ Areas

You can’t hold a brand event without some cracking tunes!

Insert Productions facilitated the mood of the event by supplying two DJ stations using Pioneer CDJ-3000 decks and DJM-A9 mixers. We provided the decking for each area and adidas/Champions League branded fascia panels. The audio from each DJ fed into our PA systems for the Lion’s Den and adidas Extra Time rooms.

In addition to these specific solutions, Insert Productions are proud to have supported Broadwick Studio with comprehensive technical productions services for their event. Our crew not only installed all the technology we provided on site, but were trusted with show operation roles including lighting operator, sound engineer and vision mixer.

Our PA systems around the venue utilised the latest audio technology, with speakers from d&b and Allen & Heath SQ5 audio consoles. LED screens were Absen 2.5mm Polaris LED panels, with content fed from Barco media servers. When not displaying gameplay information, the LED screen in the Lion’s Den played adidas branded content and classic Real Madrid clips.

We supplied a wireless show comms package, allowing show crew and event managers to stay in contact and ensure the event ran smoothly. Our power distribution system ensured mains power was routed where it was needed, and covered by adequate RCD protection.
