The Challenge

Seen Presents asked us to oversee all elements of technical production for the awards. Our brief was to provide technical interpretation of their design and consultation between Seen Presents, TikTok’s events team, the Roundhouse venue and multiple specialist subcontracted suppliers providing supplementary technical services.

Our Solutions

Insert’s Productions were heavily involved with all elements of pre-production planning, joining client meetings and providing specialist technical advice. Technical solutions we provided included systems design, digital content preparation and integration, bespoke interactive experiences and technical production infrastructure.

Video

An LED backdrop screen was the cornerstone of Seen’s stage design for the awards. We supplied, installed and managed a 20 x 3.5M LED screen using Absen Polaris 2.5mm LED panels. Video playback utilised a Disguise GX3 media server and Barco E2 screen management system, with backups in place to ensure glitch-free video playback.

Live Globe

TikTok creators love wacky interactive experiences they can share with their followers—and being influencers, they’re quite partial to seeing themselves on screen too. Collaborating with Seen’s designers, we helped create a ‘live globe’—a 2M diameter sphere made up of 48 screens streaming live content from creators attending the awards.

Power Distribution

We managed power distribution for the show, which included providing the lighting, video and rigging contractors with mains power. We took 2 x 400A powerlock, 2 x 125A three phase and 3 x 63A three phase supplies, balancing power evenly across the phases and supplying 250 final circuits, all of which were RCBO protected for overload and earth leakage.

RFID Wall

As creators arrived, they scanned their wristband on a sensor to activate personalised content on an LED wall. We created a system which enabled TikTok to upload their guest’s details onto a server. Once the RFID scanner detected their unique identifier, a greeting in the creator’s native language and TikTok handle was displayed on the screen.

Leaderboard

Some of the awards were voted for by the audience on the night of the event. To facilitate this, a mobile app which polled guests on who their favourite creators are. This data fed into a leaderboard we created using Unreal Engine, with the leaderboard shown on the main LED screen and simultaneously resized to be displayed in the TikTok live stream.
